The Art of Stained Concrete

Every Floor Is One of a Kind

Acid-stained concrete is not a paint or a coating — it is a chemical transformation. Metallic salts in the acid stain react with the lime content in the concrete, creating permanent color changes that penetrate into the surface. The resulting patterns are determined by the unique mineral composition of your specific concrete slab, meaning no two floors will ever look the same.

The beauty of stained concrete lies in its natural, organic character. Subtle color variations, marbling effects, and translucent depth create a floor that looks like natural stone — warm, rich, and full of character. It brings an elegance to living areas, patios, restaurants, and retail spaces that manufactured flooring simply cannot replicate.

At JC Epoxy Coatings, owner Alex Jimenez has years of experience mastering the art of acid staining. Every project is backed by our 10-year warranty and comes with the assurance of certified and insured coverage for your complete peace of mind.

Color Palette

Natural Earth-Tone Colors

Acid stains produce rich, translucent colors that vary with every slab. These are the primary palettes we work with — each producing unique results on your concrete.

Amber & Honey

Rich golden tones that radiate warmth. The acid reacts with the concrete minerals to produce deep amber hues with natural variation throughout the surface.

Walnut & Cola

Deep, rich brown tones reminiscent of aged wood. Creates a dramatic, sophisticated look perfect for formal living spaces and upscale restaurants.

Copper & Rust

Warm reddish-copper tones that bring an earthy, organic character. Each floor develops a unique patina-like appearance from the chemical reaction.

Moss & Sage

Subtle green earth tones blended with warm undertones. A rare and distinctive option for those seeking a truly unique floor.

How We Create Stained Concrete Floors

01

Surface Preparation

The concrete is cleaned, repaired, and profiled. Any existing sealers or coatings are removed to expose the raw concrete surface.

02

Acid Stain Application

Acid-based stain containing metallic salts is carefully applied. The stain reacts chemically with the concrete, creating permanent color changes that penetrate the surface.

03

Neutralization & Cleaning

After the reaction completes (12-24 hours), the residue is neutralized and thoroughly cleaned, revealing the final unique pattern beneath.

04

Sealing & Protection

Multiple coats of high-quality sealer are applied to protect the stained surface and enhance color depth. Choose from matte, satin, or high-gloss finishes.

FAQ

Stained Concrete Questions

Acid-stained concrete uses a solution containing metallic salts and hydrochloric acid that chemically reacts with the minerals in the concrete. This reaction creates permanent, translucent color that penetrates into the surface — it is not a coating or paint that sits on top.

The chemical reaction between the acid stain and the concrete depends on the unique mineral composition, age, porosity, and moisture content of each specific slab. These variables mean the patterns and color intensity are truly unrepeatable — every floor becomes a one-of-a-kind work of art.

Yes. Stained concrete is an excellent choice for patios, pool decks, lanais, and other outdoor spaces. We apply UV-resistant sealers that protect the color from fading in direct sunlight and withstand Florida weather conditions.

Stained concrete is very low maintenance. Regular sweeping and occasional mopping with a pH-neutral cleaner is all that is needed. We recommend resealing every 2 to 3 years to maintain the protective finish and color depth.
